Reading FC moved into the League One play-off places after Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan struck a dramatic late winner to secure a 2-1 victory over Burton Albion away from home.
The hosts looked set to be held to a draw before Ehibhatiomhan fired home in the closing stages to spark celebrations among the home supporters and seal a crucial three points in their push for place in the top six.
Burton opened the scoring with a stunning strike from former Royal George Evans before Kamari Doyle levelled before half-time.
With both sides pushing for a decisive goal, the match appeared to be drifting towards a draw until Ehibhatiomhan produced the decisive moment. The forward reacted quickly inside the penalty area to finish past the Burton goalkeeper and restore Reading’s lead late on.
The goal proved decisive as Reading held on through the final minutes to secure the win, a result that lifts them into the play-off positions in League One and strengthens their hopes of promotion.
Reading now occupy 6th position in the standings with several following behind by just a few points in a tightly contested top half of the table.
The Royals are away at Stevenage, who are just one place behind Reading, on Saturday.
