Reading FC manager Ruben Selles has sent a message of gratitude to the supporters for their continued support during difficult times.
Reading’s long ongoing takeover saga took another twist last week after Rob Couhig’s proposed deal to buy the club from Dai Yongge broke down.
The Royals were then beaten 5-2 at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday to top off a miserable week.
Speaking to the club’s media after the match, Selles said: “Firstly to the fans, I want to thank everyone for their words, emails, letters and everything they’ve said to myself and to the rest of the team.
“I think they can feel what we feel, and we are going to give absolutely everything for this football club.
“There is not going to be any doubt about it. And I hope the fans can recognise when the players are giving absolutely everything on the pitch, and I expect them to feel proud of their team.
“Obviously, we are disappointed with the defeat, but the support for the side was amazing.
“ It has been amazing for the entire year, and we know it is a difficult moment for the football club again, but we know that we are going to fight with everything that we have to try and keep the team stable.
“The boys gave everything for this club, and I’m happy with the effort they put in, but at the same time it counts for nothing now, so we will work during the week to try and improve for the weekend.
“The other positive we can take away is sometimes you need to go through those moments, as we did in the first half, to continue growing as a team. And I think we showed our personality, character, to keep the ball down on the grass, attack the back line.
“So amongst conceding, which we will clearly work on, we can take good moments from the game.
The Royals are back in action this Saturday when they host Huddersfield Town at the Select Car Leasing Stadium (12.30pm kick-off).
