READING FC WOMEN has confirmed that academy graduate Emma Harries has departed the club to join West Ham United.

Harries leaves the Royals on a free transfer following their relegation from the top flight to join the WSL side.

The club’s hierarchy opted to make the decision to switch the women’s team to a part-time basis after they dropped down to the Championship which has led to several senior figures leaving the club, including manager Kelly Cousins (Chambers).

Having worked her way through the various age groups, Harries broke into the first-team in the 2020/21 season.

She went on to make 64 appearances for the club and scored six times.

Harries was used in a number of positions including being deployed as a lone striker, part of a pair up top and also on both wings.

Her dedication and hard work saw her rise through the ranks, making her mark as a promising talent. In the 2020-21 season, she earned her spot in the first team, and from then on, her performances on the pitch truly exemplified the Royal spirit.

“Over the years, Emma has donned the blue and white with pride, making 64 appearances for the club and contributing with six crucial goals. Her dynamic play style, determination, and unwavering commitment to the team have earned her a special place in the hearts of the fans and her teammates.

“As Emma embarks on a new adventure, we thank her for her invaluable contributions to Reading FC Women and wish her nothing but success and happiness in her future endeavors. Her time with us has left an indelible mark, and we know she will continue to shine wherever she goes.
