READING FC WOMEN has confirmed that academy graduate Emma Harries has departed the club to join West Ham United.
Harries leaves the Royals on a free transfer following their relegation from the top flight to join the WSL side.
The club’s hierarchy opted to make the decision to switch the women’s team to a part-time basis after they dropped down to the Championship which has led to several senior figures leaving the club, including manager Kelly Cousins (Chambers).
Having worked her way through the various age groups, Harries broke into the first-team in the 2020/21 season.
She went on to make 64 appearances for the club and scored six times.
Harries was used in a number of positions including being deployed as a lone striker, part of a pair up top and also on both wings.
Upon her departure from the club, Reading has released a statement which reads: “Reading FC Women bids a heartfelt farewell to one of our own, Emma Harries, as she embarks on a new chapter in her football journey. With heavy hearts, we announce the departure of the talented forward, who has been an integral part of our team since breaking into the first team in the 2020-21 season.
