READING Buses is running a number of services over the Christmas period to help keep communities connected in spite of heavy reductions to rail services.
While buses won’t be running in Reading on Christmas Day, a Heathrow service will still run hourly.
Thanks to volunteer drivers, the Flightline 703 route will run between Slough and Heathrow Terminal 5 between 4am and 11pm for airport workers, holidaymakers, and those who still work.
Most buses in Reading will be running on Sunday schedules for Christmas Eve (Sunday), but finish early, mainly between 7pm-8pm.
Emerald 5 and 6, Purple 17, Claret 21, and Yellow 26 will continue Sunday services until around 11pm.
Most buses will also run on Sunday schedules for Boxing Day (Tuesday) between around 9am and 6pm.
Sunday timetables will run on most services between Wednesday and Saturday, December 27-30, except for the hospital Park & Ride 300, and Route 9, which will run as weekday services from Wednesday-Friday.
Sunday timetables will run on most services on New Year’s Eve, with extra late-night services on Purple 17.
New Year’s Day will also see Sunday timetables on most services, with buses returning to normal on Tuesday, January 2.
Robert Williams, Reading Buses’ chief executive officer, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to wish our customers and employees an enjoyable Christmas.
“We will be there for our customers when needed.
“We are delighted to be able to offer a special service on Christmas Day on Flightline 703 to help get people to and from Heathrow Airport.”
