ON SUNDAY, Reading Buses once again opened its depot to the public for its annual open day.
Attendees can get tours of the workshops, where vehicles in the fleet are fixed and maintained, spend some time in the driver’s seat, and take part in tours around Reading.
The event features games and activities, memorabilia, and puts some of the rarest buses in the fleet on display.
The day concluded with a cavalcade of buses, including some of the oldest still operational, its open-top vehicles, and some of the most recognisable services around Reading.
A Reading Buses spokesperson said: “The temperature was about perfect which meant it encouraged a huge amount of people through our gates.
“It definitely felt like the busiest Open Day we have ever staged – there were more people than ever from start to finish.
“We are still counting the money from the day and we hope to announce how much we have raised for the Royal Berks Charity in the next couple of days.
They explained: “We’d like to thank all our wonderful volunteers who made the day special and for all our guests who enjoyed the behind-the-scenes tours, food, games and bus related stalls.
“We’d also like to thank the Mayor of Reading, Councillor Glenn Dennis, for opening the day with our Chief Executive Officer, Robert Williams.”
