Wokingham Borough Council is urging motorists to avoid the Loddon Bridge Road area in Woodley following reports that a bus has struck a railway bridge.
The council’s traffic and travel team issued the warning after an Orange Route bus operated by Reading Buses reportedly collided with the underside of the bridge near The George Pub on Loddon Bridge Road.
Initial reports suggest the bus, which was travelling towards Woodley, hit the low bridge and suffered damage to the front section of its roof.

It is not yet known whether anyone was injured in the collision. Motorists are being advised to seek alternative routes while the incident is being dealt with.
A statement from Thames Valley Police says: “Loddon Bridge Road in Woodley is currently closed following a road traffic collision.
“The road is going to be closed for some time while Highways assess the bridge which was damaged in the collision.
“Thank you for your patience while we deal with this incident.”
