Reading Blue Coat congratulates pupils on ‘excellent’ GCSE results

Reading Blue Coat has congratulated its pupils on their ‘outstanding success’ in this year’s GCSE examinations.

The pupils’ were rewarded with 70% of results at grade 7 or higher, including 47% of results at the top 8 or 9 mark. 99% of grades were at grade 4 or above.

Pete Thomas headmaster said: “Our sincere congratulations to our Year 11 cohort on a great set of results! These two crucial years of GCSEs have flown by, and it has been wonderful to see how the students have skilfully balanced their studies with many co-curricular opportunities. They now have strong platforms from which they can launch into their A Levels in September.”

Year 10 pupils, who took Religious Studies GCSE a year early, also saw a fantastic set of results with 68% of results at grade 8 or 9.

Harry John from Henley achieved a remarkable 10 grade 9s and 2 grade 8s and is planning on studying Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Drama at A Level . He said, “I’m feeling great! I’m just going to enjoy it. My teachers gave me all the help I needed.”

Dedicated rower, Theo Maynard from Wokingham achieved 9 grade 9s and 2 grade 8s and intends to study A Levels in Chemistry, Computer Science, Maths and Physics. He said, “I’m happy! I feel like the consistent work of the past few years has paid off. Blue Coat really helped me achieve the grades that I have, making sure I could definitely perform my best with the knowledge I have.”

Anton Otenko from Reading achieved 7 grade 9s and 3 grade 8s whilst being actively involved in many areas of school life. He said, “I’m feeling very happy. I opened the envelope, saw all the good grades and I’m really happy about that. I definitely had a lot of support – if you wanted any help you could definitely go and ask.”
