Reading Aces Volleyball Club is celebrating an exceptional season, marked by the promotion of not just one, but three teams across competitive divisions.
The women’s NVL team we featured on the 19th of April in Reding Today, led the charge with a flawless run, finishing top of their division without losing a single match and conceding only two sets all season—a stunning display of dominance, dedication and team spirit. Their performance has earned them a well-deserved promotion to Division 2 for the coming season starting late autumn.
Team captain Meg shared her pride in the squad’s achievement: “I couldn’t be prouder of this team. Going unbeaten and finally getting promoted to Division 2 is such a rewarding moment—it’s a reflection of the hard work, commitment and drive every player has shown throughout the season. A huge thank you to our coach, Lyes, for his guidance and support—he’s been key to our success.”
Not far behind, the men’s NVL team battled through a highly competitive campaign to secure second place in their Division, giving them a chance to play in the play-offs and clinching their promotion to Division 2 as well.
Adding to the celebration, Reading Aces’ Junior A team, competing in the Berkshire Volleyball Association’s Adult Mixed Division, also finished second and earned promotion to BVA Division 1 — an extraordinary achievement for such a young squad playing in an adult league. The Juniors also won twice at the BVA Plate held in May 2025 in both BVA Juniors and BVA Adult Mixed competitions and were named Youth Team of the year at the Reading Council Sports Awards held in December.
Head Coach Lyes praised the collective effort across the club:
“What a fantastic and exceptional season for Reading Aces Volleyball Club. Both NVL teams, ladies and gents, finished respectively 1st and 2nd in their divisions and earned their promotion to Division 2 for the coming season. For the ladies, not only did these players manage to win all their games, dropping only 2 sets, they showed big commitment and professionalism. The same for the gents who fought very hard to earn this promotion as well. So a big thank you and well done to all the people who contributed to these promotions.”
Other club teams performed strongly too:
– Berkshire Volleyball Association (BVA) Men Spitfires – 4th
– BVA Men Hurricanes – 9th
– BVA Ladies – 5th
– BVA Mix Adults – 5th
