Every week we pick artists with a link to Reading or Wokingham and occasionally from further afield too. You can tune in for free via our playlist

Sour Kix – Take a Ride –
This is a band with such energy live that you can’t help being swept along with their joyous enthusiastic power pop sound. The happiness that eminates from the stage sweeps through the crowd from this four piece band led by the charismatic front person, Amelie, who has such an engaging stage presence that you can’t take your eyes of her. If you don’t believe me you can see for yourself when they visit the area to perform at Wokingham Festival on August 25. We hear that the band are working on new music and so, for now, here’s one of their excellent past singles – https://www.sourkix.com/

Katie Ellwood – More Than Perfect –
Katie is quite a talent. As well as playing multiple instruments, writing songs & being a great vocalist she also writes music for TV and films. In 2022 Katie, who grew up in Wokingham, performed a great set on the second stage at Wokingham Festival. She was so good that she’s been invited back to open the main stage on Sunday August 25. We always say that you should get to a festival early to ensure that you don’t miss anything good. Here’s a prime example – https://www.katieellwood.com/

Storm Deva – Free – Talking about not missing those opening acts, here’s one that is opening the second stage of Wokingham Festival on August Bank Holiday Monday. Storm Deva are a duo comprising singer/songwriter/pianist, Carollyn Eden and guitarist/writer, astronomer Stuart Clark. They have been championed by the influential Prog Magazine and were recommended to the festival by the internationally renowned musician and producer John Mitchell who asked them to play support at his sell out London show earlier this year. With those recommendations they must be worth checking out – https://www.stormdeva.com/
Love – Maybe the People Would Be the Times or Between Clark and Hilldale –
A classic from a classic album, ‘Forever Changes’. Andy M & I had the pleasure of a road trip recently to The 1865 in Southampton to see the current incarnation of this legendary US West Coast psychedelic band which features original guitarist Johnny Echols in the line up! What a brilliant show – https://www.facebook.com/LovewithJohnnyEchols

Leonie Jakobi – Bedroom Eyes –
If you went along to the above Love Revisited show and got there too late for the support, you’d have missed this wonderful artist. Many did get there in time and can testify to how good Leonie is – https://www.facebook.com/leoniejakobi

Mackenzie – It’s Alright –
Here’s a great artist from the local area that you can see very soon. She’ll be at Wokingham Festival on Saturday August 24th – https://beacons.ai/thisismackenzie

The Cold Blooded Hearts – Love’s Lost – The band that features Gareth Ainsworth, of Wycombe Wanderers & QPR fame will be at Wokingham Festival on August 25. This is from their acclaimed, ‘The Cold Light of Day’ album – https://thecoldbloodedhearts.com/

Rila’s Edge – All In –
Another quality single from the fast rising Wokingham band who are headlining Sunday night at Wokingham Festival later this month – https://www.rilasedge.com/

Hats TM – Hand Me Downs –
A great new single on Readipop’s Riser record label. Hats TM describes the music as ‘simultaneously reminding you how awful and beautiful the world is with swooping songs for your soul’. It certainly does that – https://linktr.ee/hatstm

Who Ate All The Crayons – Tired –
This excellent band will be opening the main stage at Wokingham Festival on Saturday 24th August – https://beacons.ai/waatc
