A FLURRY of four-legged, furry friends celebrated St Valentine’s Day at the Cunning Man pub on Saturday, thanks to Pooch Party.
Lauren Herington runs the organisation which sees pups and owners meet for a day of canine activities and socialising.
She explained: “Lots of folk, like me, are dog mad and lockdown allowed us to get them when we couldn’t previously.
“I used to work in London five days a week, so it wasn’t possible – now I have a pug, quite a good local park with a lovely group of people.
“We’d meet up at eight o’clock in the morning so the dogs come and play, and as pack animals they all love it– it stemmed from that.”
Ms Herington said that Pooch Party has grown from the informal meet-ups to a more all-encompasing group.
“It’s a dog meet-up, but you also get the extras of the agility assault course and the ball pit, but you can have drinks and lunch at the pub at the same time.
“Dogs get treat bags and toys, and there’s a fun photography area where you can dress your dog up and take photographs.”
“We do other pubs as well — we celebrated Christmas at the Rowbarge in Southampton, where we had dog treat advent calendars for the winners of the best dressed competition.”
