Cultural Contribution, JG Dance, sponsor M&G Real Estate
A former pupil of a dance school explained how it helped them deal with extreme shyness.
The nominator put forward JG Dance for the Cultural Contribution award.
“As an ex-pupil of JG Dance, this nomination comes from heartfelt personal experience,” they said.
“As a painfully shy child, I know I speak for others when I say that JG Dance had such a positive effect on my confidence.
“The essence of JG Dance is brilliantly captured through the experiences and testimonials of its students,” they said.
“Like my own story there are numerous stories of personal growth, increased confidence and multiple lifelong friendships.
“These stories illustrate the profound and lasting influence the school has on its community. “They have an incredibly humble community presence and are passionate about the quality and excellence of their teaching team,” they added.
The principal and vice principal have collectively dedicated over 100 years of their lives to JG Dance, having both been students themselves.
“As the school approaches its 70th year I believe JG Dance should be recognised for its contribution to the arts in Reading and the surrounding areas, for its outstanding cultural contribution and commitment to nurturing the next generation of dancers, actors and performers.”
They added that the award would be a fitting tribute to the founder of JG Dance, Jeannine Greville, who sadly passed away in recent years, in addition to the school’s exceptional achievements and positive community impact.
The Cultural Contribution award is sponsored by M&G Real Estate.
