Youngsters from Reading Girls School have put it forward for School of the Year, praising its encouragement, positivity and support.

One nominator said: “When I first started I wasn’t very sure about going as all of my friends were going to different schools. I later realised, because of encouragement and positivity from my school, that I could make new friends. Our school has encouraged learning.

They added: “School is no longer a chore, it is now a fun and academic opportunity to express ourselves.”

Another said the school was exceptional and helps its students see the best of themselves. “It allows all of these young women to be resilient and strong.

“It teaches the students that empowerment can come in many forms and ways and that there are many ways to express it as well.
