Building a community and creating a social hub of activity around a local independent cocktail bar has seen Liz Primrose put forward for two awards, Business in Action and Hospitality.

A nominator said: “Since Liz has joined High Spirits she has put a huge effort into creating events which involve and build the community up, whilst also making a name for the bar as a whole.

“These events have been driven with a community focus at the heart of them – rather than profits being the primary goal.”

Liz arranges entertainment based events with local musicians and dancers rather than those from further afield, to help build those circles in the local community, they added.

“She has been a major factor in helping High Spirits become the bar that it is, which includes them recently winning the Muddy Stilettos Best Bar for Berkshire in 2023.

“Now entering her second year with the business, I’m sure this mindset of building the community and creating a social hub of activity will long continue to grow,” they said.

Liz was also nominated for the Hospitality award, inspired by and in memory of Hilary Scott and sponsored by Cream Design “because of their passion within marketing and events in the hospitality industry and Liz’s determination to ensure the events run smoothly and everyone has a smile.”

The Business in Action award is sponsored by Boyes Turner.
