An “amazing” arts collective who have been involved in creating community artwork around Reading for several years have been nominated for the Cultural Contribution award.
Commando Jugendstil are known for their murals in which the community get involved.
Their nominator said: “They are amazing! Their artwork in the underpass at Holy Brook Nook has improved the whole area.
“The panels in the market are their latest piece and again celebrate all that is wonderful about our history.
“And their way of getting everyone involved in the design and painting of the murals is such a positive thing for our town.”
The collective also created the murals on the walls of the Reading Hydro building, a hydro electric generating plant on Caversham Weir on the Thames.
The Cultural Contribution award is sponsored by M&G Real Estate.
