Fundraiser of the Year, Andy Findlay, sponsor Cherubs Floral Design

Since his father died of Motor Neurone Disease, Andy Findlay has been hard at work raising funds for a charity which helps support local families affected by the disease, says his nominator for Fundraiser of the Year.

They added: “He has made good friends that have MND too so he has raised funds for the past three years or more with Tilehurst’s Westwood Club family fun day.

“He works very hard running two businesses but still finds time to help others.

They added: “Andy is a fantastic person, not selfish at all and always thinking of others even when he really doesn’t have time.”

Andy has raised cash for the Reading and West Berkshire Branch MND Association through a range of activities,

“He has set up auctions to make the money for this charity,” said his nominator.

“More help is needed to highlight this awful illness. I would love to have him recognised for the hard work he does.”

The nominator also praised others at the club who supported fun days, walks and race nights.

The Fundraiser of the Year award sponsored by Cherubs Floral Design celebrates an individual or organisation that has shown outstanding skills or dedication to creative and imaginative fundraising in Reading.

Pride of Reading would like to hear more about outstanding fundraising. Go to porawards.co.uk to nominate.

The Ray Of Hope MND Family Fun Day and Charity Walk this year is on Saturday, August 17 and starts with a 5km family fun walk, then a fete and barbecue at the club.
