A woman whose journey has taken her through running a fitness club to operating a skin and body clinic has been nominated for the Entrepreneur of the Year award.

Amanda Adlem previously owned and ran a health and fitness club in Caversham for six years, acquiring it when the business was in administration and bringing it back to profitability, said her nominator, “saving this valuable community resource from being closed”.

In 2020, when the lease was terminated, Amanda found new premises to operate the Fitness Loft, a small boutique studio in the heart of Caversham.

In early 2021 she was offered the chance to take over the Hilton Skin Clinic. “Never one to shy away from an opportunity, she snapped up this chance to combine her extensive knowledge in body health with skin health and so was born, Hilton Skin and Body Clinic,” said her nominator.

“Amanda beautifully transformed the look of the clinic to give it a very luxurious feel,” they added.

In February 2024 Amanda opened every Sunday offering treatments, the profits of which went to Reading based charity Make-A-Wish Foundation.

She employs four full time staff and seven freelance workers.

“Despite having the rug pulled out from under her, I think she has shown amazing entrepreneurial spirit and tenacity,” said her nominator.

The Entrepreneur of the Year award is sponsored by Rabbits Vehicle Hire.
