POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an assault which took place in central Reading on Saturday, August 19.
A man in his fifties was in a verbal disagreement with a group of other men, during which he was struck on the back of the head.
The victim was taken to hospital with a head injury, though his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
No arrests have been made.
A dispersal order was put in place in order to move people out of the area and prevent further disorder and to assist police investigation into the incident.
Detective Inspector Matthew Rees, said: “Our investigation is ongoing and we believe that this incident may have been a result of a disagreement following the Reading football match.
“The area around Station hill was very busy and a number of calls to emergency services were made following this assault.
“We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the assault, or anyone who may have mobile phone or dash-cam footage to please get in touch.
