THAMES Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following a robbery in Reading.

The incident occurred between 8pm and 8.15pm on Tuesday, February 22, at a Tesco store on Tilehurst Road.

Police said that the offender entered a restricted area and demanded money, before punching a staff member in the head. Another member of staff who tried to intervene was also assaulted by the offender.

He ran from the store without taking anything.

The offender is described as a white man, 5ft10ins tall, of lean build. He was dressed all in black, had his face covered and was wearing a hat.

Staff investigator, Colette O’Neil based at Reading police station, has appealed for witnesses or those with any information which may help the investigation to call 101, quoting reference number 43220081736.
