THAMES Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to a robbery in Reading which took place in the early hours of Wednesday, July 6.
At around 1.30am, a group of males befriended the victim, a man in his thirties, in the yard of St Mary’s Church in Chain Street, then walked through the town with him.
Around an hour later, the group stole the victim’s phone, bankcard and a quantity of cash in Berkeley Avenue then threw him into the river.
The victim suffered a head injury and was taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital for further treatment, where he remains in a stable condition.
Detective Inspector Bev Pearse, based at Reading police station, said: “I am appealing to anybody who witnessed this incident to please get in touch with us.
“Also, if you have any CCTV footage in the area or any dash-cam footage if you were in the area around the time, I’d also ask that you check any recordings in case it has captured something that could assist our investigation.
