POETS’ Cafe is returning to Reading this week for its regular celebration of verse.
The event welcomes local poets as well as guest performers in a monthly open-mic showcase.
July’s edition will see returning hosts Vic Pickup and Katherine Meehan joined by Bristol-based author, poet, and artist Kaycee Hill.
Hill explored her British and Caribbean heritage through mixed-media art and in her written work, for which she has been shortlisted for the Poetry London Mentoring Scheme in 2020 and commended for her poetry by The Young Poets Network.
She was one of three winners of the inaugural James Berry Poetry Prize in 2021 and her first book-length collection, Hot Sauce, was published by Bloodaxe Books in 2023.
She also won an Eric Gregory Award in 2025 for the manuscript of a new collection, Sonic Inheritance.
Poets’ Cafe returns to South Street Arts Centre on Friday, July 11, and again on the second Friday of each month.
