READING FC WOMEN had to stay resilient and compact at the back to collect a point at home to Charlton Athletic after playing virtually the whole second-half with 10 players.
After an uninspiring opening 45 minutes, Reading’s task to find a positive results was made tricky when Sanne Troelsgaard was shown a red card early after the restart for an off the ball incident with Kiera Skeels.
Needing to show defensive resolve with a player deficit, the Royals had luck on their side as the Addicks missed a whole host of chances and were unable to find the net.
Reading even had a chance to snatch all three points in the final few minutes as Lauren Wade spearheaded a rare Royals attack only to see her shot saved at the near post.
But the game ended goalless as Reading picked up what could be a valuable point which means they start their Championship campaign with back-to-back draws.
Next up for Liam Gilbert’s side is an away trip to London City on Sunday, who have started their campaign with one win and one draw.
