READING FC sailed through to the FA Cup fourth round by getting past Watford with goals from Kelvin Abrefa and Shane Long.

Abrefa opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time with a cross that caught the goalkeeper off guard and flew into the top corner.

The Hornets, who had 15 first-team players injured, were unable to find a route back into the game as their youthful outfit struggled to create chances.

With Watford searching for a goal late in the game, they were caught on the counter as Tom McIntyre threaded an excellent through ball to Shane Long who raced onto the pass and slotted the ball into the bottom corner to seal the tie.
