A CHRISTMAS gift has been made by members of Pangbourne Rotary Club – and they won’t know who receives it.

The fundraising group have given 200 individual Christmas cakes to Reading’s foodbank, ReadiFood, which will be placed into its food parcels over the coming days.

These provide enough food for three days and, at this time of year, some seasonal treats as well.

A spokesperson for Pangbourne Rotary Club said this is another example of where the money donated by the public at its fundraising events goes.

The club is not hibernating over the winter: it is currently helping Santa tour the streets of West Reading, letting excited children see him on his sleigh – and make a donation to the charity.

The tour will end with a special daytime visit to Tilehurst Triangle, where he will be in residence from 9am to 5pm on Friday, December 22. The day will including carol singing, and seasonal refreshments.
