A BOROUGH Rotary club launched its fundraising events of 2026 with a fun run.
The Woodcote 10K Run, held 11 miles north of Reading, on Sunday, January 11, proved to be a successful first activity of the year for Pangbourne Rotary Club.
A post-COVID record of 433 runners entered the annual event, which raised an estimated £3,500 for Daisy’s Dream, and the club’s own charitable trust.
Despite the day being cold and windy, conditions were, at least, dry for the participants.

“The men’s winner was Rob Corney, with a fantastic time of 32.03 minutes,” said Pangbourne Rotary Club president Brian Davies.
“He was followed home by Tom Epton and Matthew Ploszynsky.”
Kate Williams was the first female home in 40.39 minutes, and received her prize from sponsor Bob Warmingham.

The route is described as the toughest 10k in the South Chilterns, and is considered something of a challenge.
Just completing the undulating, meandering course along back roads, and flanked by woods and farmland, can bring a real sense of achievement.
It is frequently described by participants as their favourite race of the year, and many entrants complimented the organisers on their well-run 2026 event, promising to return next year
Pangbourne Rotary Club’s next fundraiser is its Pangbourne Art Exhibition, a sale of paintings by local artists, which will take place at Pangbourne Village Hall, from Friday to Sunday, March 6 to 8.
