THE victim of a murder in Pangbourne has been named.
The incident happened in the West Berkshire village on Thursday, January 4.
Forensic police were called to the village after a woman was discovered after a Lexus car was involved in a collision on Tidmarsh Road with its junction with Flowers Hill, just before 6pm.
She was seriously wounded, and paramedics treated her at the scene, but she was declared dead shortly after.
Minutes later, an 18-year-old man was found dead on nearby railway tracks.
Thames Valley Police and British Transport Police closed roads, the railway station and four train lines while they conducted an investigation.
They are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.
On Saturday, January 6, it was revealed that the woman was 56-year-old Maya Bracken.
The Sun said neighbours described her as a kind person who would do anything for her three children.
While neither victim has been formally identified, Thames Valley Police said their next of kin were being supported by specially trained officers.
Detective Superintendent Kevin Brown, head of the major crime unit, said yesterday: “We have launched a murder investigation after the death of a woman near Flowers Hill, Pangbourne, and the associated discovery of a deceased man at Pangbourne railway station.
“Firstly, I would like to send my condolences on behalf of the force to loved ones of both at this extremely difficult time.
“We are in the very early stages of this complex investigation, but we are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with either death.
“We are still investigating but are treating the two deaths as linked; we are keeping an open mind as to the circumstances of each. There is no wider threat to the public from these sad and tragic incidents.”
