On the Sunday after Christmas, the East Berkshire Palestine Solidarity Campaign set up stall In Reading’s Broad Street to let people know about the latest disaster in Gaza.
A statement from the group says: “Two days after Christmas Israeli air strikes killed approximately 50 people in the area near the Kamal Adwan Hospital in north Gaza.
“The Israeli army then ordered out all medical staff and patients, including 15 patients who were critically ill.
“The army detained Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, the hospital’s medical director, and are reported to have beaten him. The World Health Organisation was appalled by the raid which destroyed the area’s last functioning medical facility.”
Sue Sibany-King, spokesperson and branch secretary for the East Berkshire Palestine Solidarity Campaign, commented: “Since October 2023 the Israeli government has blocked foreign journalists from entering Gaza, so it is difficult to know exactly what is happening. They are covering up the full horror.”
