Reading FC manager Ruben Selles admitted that some of his players are attractive propositions for other clubs, but expects to keep his squad intact.
The Royals lost several key players last January transfer window, including Nelson Abbey, Tom McIntyre and Tom Holmes.
However, the Spaniard is optimistic that the club will be able to hold onto the core of his squad despite interest from other teams.
“I will not call it concern,” said Selles when asked whether he was concerned about keeping hold of his key players.
“I will say that because of the way the boys put together individually and as a team, obviously there is some players that are attractive for other clubs.
“As attractive for other clubs as they are attractive for us. The market is going to be there and people will always try to find players that are performing in the level or even a little bit above and then will try to get something from the situation where we are.
“As far as we know, we can work and should keep things as they are now.
“People are under contract unless they see something very big where we will need to do it.
Selles also spoke about how impressed he has been with the work his squad have put in during pre-season and highlighted the improvement since last season.
He continued: “The difference is huge. The group of players we have now is completely different to when we started.
“The ones who were here, especially the young players, have one season of competing against League One opposition.
“Everyone is more mature. Right now what we see is that with this group we can be competitive, we can be ultra competitive and I think that’s a good feeling to have. We go to try and win every game and see what we can get this season.”
