A READING resident is holding an open garden and plant sale this weekend.
Nicki Parton is organising the event, aiming to bring the joy of gardening to the community in an accessible, non-committal way.
She said: “Gardening is a real therapy, it’s healing to be with nature in that way, and that’s why it’s my passion.
“However when you visit garden centres they charge so much for plants, so I thought I’d start my own garden sale hopefully much cheaper than at the centres.
“People are welcome to come along and sit in the garden with a cup of tea and some cake, and we will also have a donations box if people would like to support another similar event, as I’m hoping for it to return once a year.”
The sale will feature lupins, cosmos, petunias, and lobelias, and a range of other plants for sale.
The event will not be able to take card payments for plants, meaning cash will be required
The Open Garden and Plant Sale takes place at 44 Brockley Close, from noon until 6pm on Saturday and Sunday, July 6-7.
