THE NHS has issued a regular reminder for residents in Berkshire ahead of the Easter bank holiday.
Some community pharmacies and all GP surgeries will be closed from Friday, April 3, and will re-open on Tuesday, April 6.
People are advised to collect prescriptions and ensure they have enough medication for across thee bank holiday ahead of time.
Dr Lalitha Iyer, chief medical officer at NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West Integrated Care Board, said: “Help yourself stay well over the long Easter weekend by making sure you have enough of your medication to see you through.
“It’s best to get your usual medications well in advance, especially if you’re going away.
Do check in with vulnerable family members, friends and neighbours that they have the medications they need.
“You can easily order repeat prescriptions via the NHS App or get in touch with your General Practice online or on the phone to make sure you have what you need.
“If you do run out of your medication, NHS 111 online can offer advice on how to get an emergency supply. But it’s always best to be prepared.”
Dr Iyer conintued: “Community pharmacies can also advise and prescribe medication for minor conditions, so you don’t need a GP appointment. You can find more information on the NHS website
“If you think you need urgent medical advice then contact NHS 111 online or by phone.”
