THE NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and Berkshire Director of Partnerships, Daniel Leveson, is set to speak to patients in Reading as part of the Reading Patient Voice Group.
Mr Leveson will address a meeting of the group about neighbourhood health alongside Beverley Nicholson, Reading’s Integration Programme Manager and Helen Clark, Partnerships Manager for Berkshire West.
It comes as part of a new focus on ‘neighbourhood health’, which seeks to spread healthcare away from hospitals and into communities; Royal Berkshire hospital, GPs and community health services are all involved as the NHS seeks greater prevention, more convenience, and care ‘closer to home’.
Among the proposed changes, hospitals and community service providers will gain the main responsibility for assessing patient experience.
Reading Patient Voice Group says it aims to ensure that this is carried out in a “truly effective and careful way”, with a focus on learning and improving.
The event takes place at the Reading Civic Offices from 6pm on Wednesday, January 24.
The meeting is open for attendance by anyone.
