The appointment of Reading Football Club’s new first-team assistant manager has been revealed.
Despite not yet being confirmed by the club, it was revealed on social media yesterday that Richard Beale will be joining the Royals.
Reading had been in a search for a new assistant manager after previous assistant Nigel Gibbs departed earlier this month to join Championship side West Bromwich Albion.
Richard Beale will be joining Noel Hunt’s coaching staff at Reading after his departure from the Baggies was confirmed yesterday.
West Brom said: “Albion can confirm Professional Development Phase Manager Richard Beale has left The Hawthorns to pursue an opportunity at another club.
Beale arrived at the Baggies in July 2021 and has led the Under-21s for the last four seasons.
“He memorably guided the youngsters to their Premier League Cup triumph – beating Wolves on penalties in the final – during his maiden campaign.
“The club wishes Richard and his family all the very best for the future.”
As well as West Brom, Beale has worked with the youth teams at Birmingham City and Aston Villa and has also been caretaker first-team manager at both Birmingham and West Brom.
One of those caretaker games at West Brom in 2022 included a victory over Reading in the Championship.
