SHE has been on the road for 25 years and now it leads her to The Butler in Reading.
Miranda Sykes is regarded as one of the country’s leading singers, guitarists and bass players best known for her work with the acoustic roots/folk duo, Show of Hands.
She has also toured with other bands, in duos, as a soloist and even fronting her own band after starting out at the tender age of 17.
The Covid-19 Pandemic, despite the horror of the uncertainty and sadness it brought, also offered a time of reflection while ‘normal’ life ground to a halt and spawned a new way for many to access live music – through the internet.
Performing three-weekly concerts on Facebook between chemotherapy cycles for breast cancer became a lifeline for Miranda, reminding her of her own identity during a dark time. It also became a lifeline for many people who were unable to leave their homes to enjoy the music they love. Because of these concerts, Miranda decided to record a CD at home and ask her online audience to choose the songs to be featured on it.
The Farmhouse Sessions covers the whole of Miranda’s career and is a celebration of life and love in all its forms.
This show is an opportunity for her to bring these beautiful songs to life on stage and use her voice to spread hope and happiness for all our futures.
