Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit has launched a murder investigation following the death of a woman in Reading yesterday (Sunday, September 7.
Officers were called to a stabbing at an address on the A4 London Road at around 2.35pm.
A 39-year-old woman died at the scene, and a 29-year-old man from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
He remains in police custody.
The victim has not been formally identified and their victim’s next of kin are yet to be identified and informed.
A scene has been put in place around the address; the A4 has been re-opened following closure.
Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Stuart May, of our Major Crime Unit, said: “We are in the very early stages of this murder investigation, but we have made an arrest and are we are not currently looking for anyone else.
“There is no known threat to the wider public.
“We have been unable to speak to the victim’s next of kin yet so please be mindful and avoid speculating online.
He explained: “Members of the public are likely to see an increased police presence while we continue to investigate and we would advise anyone with any concerns to please speak to one of our uniformed officers.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by our scene but please be patient while we investigate.
