Local bowls star Morgan Merryweather was crowned as the English Indoor Bowling Association National Two Wood Ladies singles champion last weekend.
Having progressed as the representative from her section, Morgan went on to compete in the tournament at Nottingham in the last 16 of the competition.
She defeated Ipswich’s Lucy Ratcliffe 21-13 before beating Imogen Jenner 21-14 in the quarter-finals.
A 21-13 semi-final victory over Emily Kernick took Morgan to the final of the competition on Saturday where she faced Pauline Howe and came out victorious 21-13.
Morgan reached the final of the EIBA Champion of Champions Ladies Singles event last month at Dolphin Indoor Bowls Club (Poole) losing in a close final 19-21 to Alice Lovett (Loddon Vale Indoor Bowls Club).
Morgan is a member of Whiteknights Indoor Bowling Club, and also works there as a weekday administrator, and plays her summer bowls at Island Bohemian Bowls Club.
A representative from Whiteknights Bowls Club said: “What an achievement. Everyone at the club is absolutely delighted.”
