A GROUP interested in the history of Reading will meet to discuss the woollen industry and its influence on the town and its people.
The History of Reading Society members will be able to hear a talk given by president of the society Joan Dils.
Her subject is, Another Look at Prosperity and Piety in Late Medieval Reading c1450-1550.
Joan will explain how the expansion of the woollen cloth industry and trade increased the fortunes of many at this time.
She will also be sharing some of the beliefs and pious practices revealed in contemporary wills and parish accounts, despite the preaching of some Berkshire Lollards.
The group meets on the third Wednesday of the month at the Abbey Baptist Church, Abbey Square, Reading.
Their next event is on Wednesday, November 20, at 7.30pm.
Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start, and entry is free for members, or £2 for visitors.
Anyone interested in history is welcome..
There will be a book sale too, so people are invited to bring cash if they wish to buy a book.
