MATES Rates Comedy is bringing its latest batch of performers as its regular comedy showcase returns to Reading.

South Street Comedy Club sees both fresh and established comics take to the stage for a measure of mirth.

October’s event will see Reading’s regular MC Carl Richard hosting, with Andrew Mensah headlining alongside Raj Poojara and Andrew Skipper.

Andrew Mensah has made waves since beginning his comedy career in 2018, taking the top prize at the Cavendish Arms Summer Competition in 2019, hosting his own show on BT Sport, and making regular appearances at London’s Top Secret Comedy Club.

Raj Poojara is one of the rising stars of the British comedy scene, with a number of competition finals under his belt, including So You Think You’re Funny 2019 and BBC New Comedy Awards regionals in 2021.

Jack Skipper recently exploded in popularity following much of his social media work going viral

Skipper’s down-to-earth charm gives him an air of easy approachability and immediately disarms the audience.

His recent tour, Jack Skipper & Friends, saw sold out dates at The Comedy Store in London, as well as performances at Birmingham’s Glee Club and The Lowry in Salford.

Carl Richard is a stalwart of the Reading comedy scene, bringing huge headliners and rising raconteurs to events around town through Mates Rates, including open mic events.

South Street Comedy Club, presented by Mates Rates Comedy, was due to take place at South Street Arts Centre on Saturday, October 27, but has now been cancelled.
