A FESTIVE market with a difference came to Reading town centre on Saturday.
The Black Pound Pop-up Market was held at Reading Biscuit Factory in Broad Street Mall.
There were a range of stalls offering everything from food to clothes, as well as handmade items.
There were craft activities for children to get stuck into.
Veronica Wynter served fresh food, with a menu packed with traditional Caribbean items such as curried goat, stewed chicken and salt fish patties.
One of the youngest stall holders was eight-year-old Malika, who runs Malika’s Beautiful Gems.
And to ensure the market had the right vibes, the team from RG2 Radio were on hand to provide some music.
The mayor of Reading, Cllr Rachel Eden, opened the event.
The market was held to mark Black Pound Day, a monthly event to aims to address the economic inequalities and imbalances affecting Black businesses and entrepreneurs in the UK and global diasporic communities.
It does this by increasing the visibility of black businesses.
Founded by Swiss from the So Solid Crew, the event takes place on the first Saturday of the month.
