A MAN has been sentenced to jail time for a string of shoplifting offences in Reading.
Richard Hiscock, aged 30 and of no fixed abode, was sentenced to 40 weeks in prison at a hearing at Reading Magistrates Court on Monday, September 16.
He pleaded guilty to 14 counts of shoplifting at the hearing, after he shoplifted from branches of Vision Express, Sunglasses Hut, and Boots between April 23 and September 11 this year.
In total, he stole goods worth £8,046 before he was arrested and charged on September 15.
Investigating officer PC Vince Moore said: “I hope this sentencing shows how committed Thames Valley Police is to making our communities a safer place.
“I hope this also sends a clear message to people who choose to shoplift, that they will be dealt with robustly.
“Anyone found carrying out this crime will be put before the courts and risk the prospect of receiving a custodial sentence.”
