A MAN has been jailed for child sexual offences in West Berkshire and placed on the sex offenders register following a hearing at Reading Crown Court.

Anthony Farr, aged 59, of Southend Road in Bradfield Southend, was sentenced to 12 years in prison, issued with a 15-year sexual harm prevention order, and ordered for him to be on the sex offenders register for life, at a hearing on Friday, June 27.

A jury found Farr guilty of one count each of assault of a child under 13 by penetration and inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity at the same court on May 12, at the conclusion of a 10-day trial.

The jury acquitted Farr of two counts of sexual assault of a child under 13 and one count of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.

Farr was charged on April 12 last year, after having sexually abused a young girl in West Berkshire.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Adele Shaw said: “I would like to commend the victim in this case for her strength and bravery in reporting this despicable sexual abuse to police.
