The man, who was in his 50s, died after his car, a black Mitsubishi Shogun Warrior was found in a grass bank between the Overdown Road roundabout and Knowsley Road, in the direction of Purley.

The incident occurred at around 1.15pm on Thursday, August 31.

Thames Valley Police said the driver’s family are being supported by specially trained officers.

Investigating officer PC Ryan Webb, of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to please get in touch.

“We’d also ask any motorists with dash-cams and who were in the vicinity around the time of the incident to please check any footage in case it may have captured something that could help the investigation.
