A READING man has been charged with rape, as well as other offences, following an incident in East Street.
Ruiting Xia, 24 and of East Street, has been charged with a count each of rape, sexual assault, possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, theft, and threatening to disclose a private image.
Xia was charged on Tuesday, May 21, following an incident at an address in the same street on Saturday, May 18.
TVP posted to social media on Saturday to explain a large police presence in East Street on Sunday evening as they conducted investigations.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Reading Magistrate’s Court later today.
