A major emergency response has been launched after a serious incident led to the closure of Rushey Way in Earley.

Police and other emergency services were called to the scene, with a stretch of the road cordoned off and motorists prevented from entering the area. Drivers are advised to avoid the route while officers dealt with the situation.

Witnesses reported seeing multiple emergency vehicles and a significant police presence. Traffic built up on surrounding roads as diversions were put in place, causing disruption for residents and commuters.

In a statement, Thames Valley Police confirmed officers were in attendance but did not immediately provide details about the nature of the incident or whether anyone had been injured.

The force said enquiries were ongoing and urged members of the public to avoid speculation while investigations continue.

Updates are expected as more information becomes available.
