A crash on the M4 near Reading has caused delays for drivers after a fuel spillage led to lane closures on the motorway.
The incident happened between junction 10 for Wokingham/Bracknell and junction 11 for Reading and the A33, one of the busiest stretches of the motorway in Berkshire.
Emergency services and highways officers attended the scene after the crash, which left fuel spilled across part of the carriageway and damaged road barriers. Crews were required to carry out a clean-up operation and repair the surface before lanes could fully reopen.
National Highways said lanes were closed while the spillage was cleared and the road resurfaced, warning drivers to expect disruption during the work.
Traffic built up quickly as the motorway was partially closed, with queues stretching for miles and delays reported on surrounding routes in Reading and Wokingham. Drivers were advised to leave the M4 at junction 10 and use the A329(M) or local roads before rejoining at junction 11.
National Highways said delays were expected to continue while recovery and resurfacing work was completed.
