Labour MP for Earley & Woodley, Yuan Yang, has confirmed that herself and other MPs have written to the Chinese embassy to help with Reading Football Club’s situation.
Yang has been championing the cause of Reading fans since being elected in July as the club continues to face major difficulties under owner Dai Yongge.
Yang confirmed that herself, alongside fellow Labour MPs Matt Rodda and Olviva Bailey, have written to the Chinese Embassy to try and help contact Reading owners Dai Yongge and Dai Xiu Li.
Taking to X, Yang said: “I want to make sure that no avenue is left unexplored in my campaign for #readingfc’s survival, so today I have written to the Chinese Embassy in London with my fellow Reading MPs, @MattRodda and @livbailey, to ask the embassy for their help in contacting the owners.
“I have also invited Dai Xiu Li and Dai Yongge to meet me in Parliament.
“Yesterday I met the EFL and am continuing to talk to pro bono lawyers and prospective bidders. Ultimately this issue is about regulation and I’m keen to see the Football Governance Bill passed asap. “
Yang also appeared on the Price of Football podcast last week where she highlighted some of the action she has taken to get Reading FC’s situation and the Football Governance Bill discussed in parliament.
