A LIAR and a fraud is the subject for a special online lecture next week.
Members of the Berkshire Family History Society are invited people to find out about Henry Smith, who lived between 1668 and 1710.
He worked for the East India Company and was sacked on several occasions for being a notorious, naughty, false, lying fellow. Subsequently, he was incarcerated in Newgate gaol and tried on two counts of piracy.
The talk by Sue Paul looks at how ancestral history can be enhanced by reconstructing the life story of someone who cannot be found in any traditional genealogical records.
It takes place from 7.45pm on Thursday, January 25. Places cost £5 for non-members.
