THE FINISHING touches are being made to Theale Community Fire Station, thanks to contractors Knights Brown.
After building work began in January 2020, the new station will offer a fully accessible space and meeting room for the community.
The work comes as part of the ongoing collaboration with Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, Thames Valley Police and South Central Ambulance Service.
Councillor Angus Ross, lead member for strategic assets on Royal Berkshire Fire Authority, said he is delighted that the work is nearing completion.
“I am confident that it will be a fantastic investment that the local community will be proud of,” he said.
“I know that this new community fire station will provide a modern, fit-for-purpose facility that will deliver on our strategic commitment to ensure that our fire stations, people and resources are placed firmly at the heart of local communities.”
The new station’s location will also allow better emergency response access to the M4 and A4 roads.
The relocation will mean the Dee Road Fire Station, in Reading, site to be up for sale and closure of Pangbourne Fire Station.
And, as a result, crews will be moved from the Reading location to Theale.
