THROUGHOUT the 1970s and 80s, her casting was the sign of a quality sitcom. Now, there’s a chance to find out more about the life and times of Dame Penelope Keith, thanks to the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre.

The Guildford arts venue is welcoming its patron for a retrospective of her life and career, hosted by fellow comedic heavyweight, Mel Giedroyc.

It will raise funds for the theatre’s Play Your Part campaign, which aims to carry out a series of renovations to the site to improve its accessibility and sustainability, and meet the needs of audiences for the next 50 years.

Dame Penelope starred in a string of hits including The Good Life and To The Manor Born. She also has enjoyed a marvellous stage career including Noël Coward’s Star Quality, and a West End revival of The Importance of Being Earnest as well as a production of The Chalk Garden at Chichester Festival Theatre.

The event takes place on Wednesday, December 6, from 7pm. Tickets cost from £45.

For more information and to book tickets, log on to: Yvonne-Arnaud.co.uk, or call the box office on: 01483 440000, between 10am and 5pm daily except Sundays.
