‘I’m going to be here if it depends on me’ said Reading FC manager Veljko Paunovic after their defeat to Bristol City.

The Royals have now lost six Championship matches in a row after defeat at Ashton Gate.

They sit one place and two points above the drop zone, while 22nd Peterborough United have a game in hand.

“I’m going to be here, if it depends on me,” said Paunovic when questioned on his immediate future at the club.

“I will keep fighting. Whenever the time comes to an end, I will know that I have tried my best.”

Paunovic said that he hasn’t had contact with the owners of the club in the last few days and refused to elaborate on the planned protest by Reading fans at Saturday’s home match against Coventry City.

“I gave you my opinion on that already so you have it,” continued Paunovic when asked about the planned protest at the club’s 150th anniversary match.

Despite the loss, the Serbian boss believes that there was some improvement from his team.

He continued: “I believe it was a disappointing result but the team showed cohesion. The second half, in attack there were a lot of chances and determination.

“That’s something we didn’t have in the past and it shows the team is coming back together but on the other side defensively we committed mistakes that we have to eradicate to win games.

“The second half we recomposed and we were close to getting a point and I’m very disappointed that didn’t happen.”
