A HOMEWARE and furniture store in Reading is getting into the seasonal spirit with a free family event this weekend.
Ikea’s Reading branch in Calcot is kicking off the countdown to Christmas with a weekend of events and activities.
This event will see customers treated to live entertainment from an in-store DJ, balloon artists, and face painting.
There will also be games and competitions taking place across the weekend.
The event is for those subscribed to the free Ikea Family loyalty program, which also gives discounts on certain products and in the restaurant.
It forms part of the company’s wider work to support families by providing free or low-cost activities as households continue to struggle with the cost of living.
As well as the weekend event, Ikea is hosting a number of craft sessions and workshops in the coming month, including a three-course meal for its Santa Lucia celebrations on Wednesday, December 13.
Santa Lucia, also known as St Lucy’s Day, is one of Sweden’s largest festive celebrations, and the event will also see a live band as well as crafts and activities.
There will also be a pop-up cinema in store showing short films.
Ikea’s Festive Family Weekend takes place at the branch in Calcot from 11am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday, December 2-3.
