Reading FC manager Noel Hunt was full of praise for his team after they were beaten by big spending Championship side Wrexham in the EFL Cup.
After a strong first-half performance from Reading, the hosts then took control in the second and went through with a double from £10million signing Nathan Broadhead.
Despite the loss, Hunt was delighted with aspects of the team performance.
He said: “I thought we were fantastic. There was only one team in the first-half, we dominated the game and created the best chances. We should have come in one or two up.
“We switched off on a set play and they got fortunate with a ricochet and the second goal goes in so for us it’s disappointing but I’m so proud of how we performed. We changed it a bit and made a lot of changes for the game, a lot of young ones came in.
“We all know the story of Wrexham and how much quality they’ve got in their team, but I thought my lads were superb. I’m really pleased with the boys.
“We’re disappointed to be out of the cup, I hate losing games. But the performance and how we played we can build on it. There are positive things to take.”
Hunt also spoke about striker Mark O’Mahony, who is still awaiting his first goal for the club Hunt said: “ He worked his backside off. He’s a big lad and he takes the hits. He comes into play, people run off him and we look a threat. We’re really rooting for him to get that first goal, no one deserves it more than him.”
